The Spiritual life can sometimes flow in cycles. In the last chapter David is in top form - forgiving his enemies and trusting God’s care and protection. Then he starts thinking ‘in his heart’. David becomes depressed and then he makes a string of very bad decisions. Initially leaving Israel and heading into Philistine country seems to go well; His old enemy Saul leaves off chasing him.
